They are not artificial.

And I am not treating this as "us vs. them." I am treating this from consistent standards based on a free market of ideas.

You think that Christianity entered the modern age because of better circumstances, and that all Islam has to do is catch up. I argue that Islam may never catch up because of fundamental differences in theology.

This is a discussion that won't be resolved with brief posts on the Internet. Suffice to say that our culture seems intent on trying to portray Islam as a "religion of peace" partially because the truth might be too scary to fathom.
