You are too smart for me to think you can not imagine why people would be executed in a time of war under those battle conditions. Lacking prisons or any kind of accommodation for captured enemies, what option would you propose for your declared deadly enemies in time of war ... catch and release. War is not a Sunday picnic and especially in that time and circumstance it was graphically and unavoidably brutal. I do know that there were rules of war and that subdued enemies were treated mercifully. Your author's characterizations are telling ... but far from objective.

Not in my opinion. I told you my opinion and I honestly believe you are thoughtlessly throwing your soul in the trash. Not because you choose Christianity, though you probably think that is my concern. I think 'the way', Jesus's way is a fine and beautiful way to live a life, none better. My opinion is that you are championing one thing and calling it another, and that you are so into the sport of it that you're actually acting contrary to the underlying purpose of the faith. To regard the well being of self and others in all that you say and do.
What you are doing does not in any way appear as love for Jesus. More like an agressive loyalty to a club to the extent you have to express hatred for a counterpart. It is the usual grabbing onto the new niggar by the throat when the old ones, an ever growing list which changes from one generation to another, became politically incorrect. It gives people a sense of power I suppose but there is nothing virtuous about it. And you're doing the same to this group which has been done for centuries to their predecessors. Your grand childrens children will show appropriate regret just as you've done for your ancestors. When you repeat the same pattern however, such expressions seem rather insincere and empty.
The same attacks have been applied to Jews, Catholics, Irish, Blacks, American Indians etc almost without missing a breath in transition. And as you wonder how the decent Muslims you know are unable to see what seems plain before your eyes, I wonder how you can deny something as obvious as this.

Sounds like nothing of the sort. You are misrepresenting my repeated attempts to convince you to seek understanding over any need to demonize others a priori. That encouragement from me, however, is intended to benefit you in a good way. You prefer to tell yourself billions of Muslims in the world are duped, as have been billions before them over the centuries who've devoted their lives to the challenge to live a righteous life in Islam. You are too smart for them and know their lives and faith are founded on the ravings of an Evil Arab. You know that and have proof. It's possible such massive dupification could exist. But that wouldn't explain the millions and millions of loving family lives carrying on as decent and kind citizens, probably no less than your own family and loved ones. Well unless you think they are all fakers and drink babies blood for their evening snack when no one's looking.

Sure I've read it when I was young and most of the Old Testament. I've kept a copy of King James Version since my youth and I have more than one version set in the most honored place of my home. Never could get interested in the details of Exodus ... cubits of this cloth and that for the temple, then on and on about begatting children and such.
I like Proverbs the most and I can take the Psalms for a while... .
Leviticus is a little to detailed for me,'Don't round the corners of your beard' and this and that.
I like this though:
Leviticus 19.17-18: “Do not bear a grudge against anyone, but settle your differences, so that you will not commit a sin. Do not take revenge on anyone, or continue to hate - but love your neighbour as you love yourself….”
Proverbs 11:27 He who seeks good finds goodwill,
but evil comes to him who searches for it.
And of course the center piece of the New Testament, which is not IMO a contradiction to the Old:
“Love your neighbour as you love yourself (Luke 10.27). Do this and you will live (Luke 10.28). Loving your neighbour as you love yourself IS loving the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength (Luke10.27-28). Do not judge others, and God will not judge you; do not condemn others, and God will not condemn you; forgive others, and God will forgive you. Give to others, and God will give to you (Luke 6.37)”.

I have been to many different denominations of church and the door to door visitors are always welcome here.
I've listened earnestly as a seeker of truth. I have studied Christianity for my self and believe I have grasped the goodness and perspective there in. Although not a Bible Scholar I believe I have given Christianity a thorough inspection and find no problem accepting the truth in that message. I am a believer, although I am not a member of any particular denomination. Can you say the same wrt your treatment of Islam? |
