Ah so!

Upon revisiting your first post I see that you *did* actually say "abuse illicit drugs" ( Message 26818568 ) which would obviously leave out the much larger drug abuse problem of abusing legal drugs (even if in an 'illegal way' as in "Hillbilly Heroin", etc.)

Even so, merely using arrest records is more likely to show what is targeted for police attention and prosecution (for example: crack cocaine to a greater extent then powder cocaine, meth probably more then 'club drugs', etc.)

Arrest data gives us one source for information but the most accurate picture of drug abuse it ain't.... (And, as I've also pointed out, once socioeconomic factors are considered in the arrest data, the controlling influence of 'race' seems to disappear....)
