Double entry booking really has nothing to do with this. Double entry booking balances the sum of credits with the sum of debits. It doesn't determine the relative size of specific debits and credits. It doesn't imply that all things that negatively effect the balance sheet must be equal. Its irrelevant to the point being raised.
