I doubt the tea party members themselves completely understand their own movement. They want to be on social security and suck down medicare, but they're against "big government". They claim to want America to be competitive, but they are anti-public education (do they have any idea how many engineers the government eduction system in China is turning out?) The baggers are a bag of contradictions- and it would be impossible to "truly" understand them, because they are really all over the map.

They think they want smaller government, until smaller government will mean they won't get their benefits- then they will scream (no doubt they feel they are "entitled").

As with all movements, it will pass. It's all sound and fury in the beginning, but our corporate oligarchy will manage to co-opt them as it co-opts everything.
