In the end ICE's are doomed because of the net, increasing costs of fuels to run them. We are running out of cheap to produce fossil fuels.

In the end electrically driven terrestrial vehicles will dominate the world probably sometime within the next forty years.

Fossil fuels will just cost too much.

Electricity just doesn't come out of the outlet by magic, it has to be generated and mostly its generated by fossil fuels.

So if fossil fuels are going to be too expensive to use, so is electricity. We can pretend that we're going to start generating all our electricity with wind and solar and biofuels but those things are a lot more expensive than fossil fuels.

Not to mention we can't build a single windmill or solar panel or power plant or transmission line without using fossil fuels.
