The distance issue is a legitimate one, but there is no indication as to how pervasive it is. My contacts in the industry have not seen this issue at any customer sites yet.

If the GEA changes the spec to 100M, it will certainly affect the speed of GE's acceptance, too bad. But keep in mind that this issue affects all technologies of similar speed, such as OC12-ATM, Gigabit Fibre Channel, etc.

This issue may simply fall by the wayside as more successful installations are made public. I'm not concerned yet.
