I'll help you guys out since you don't seem to know anything about solar power. Desertec: Solar thermal energy conversion in deserts of the world. The big red square would power the entire world, even includes area for service roads, plants, ect. desertec.org desertec.org In the U.S. an array only 90 miles square (per side) could power the entire U.S. (that area includes service roads and other set asides. My pv rooftop array of a few hundred sq ft powers my entire home and has a lot of excess electrons to charge a couple electric cars with a small amount left over going to my local utility.
