There is already such traffic tie-ups in the tubing and switching of the backbone, there are prolonged periods, some lasting minutes, when the green RD light (Read-Data) on my trusty Zoom v.34 is idle. Modem is ready and willing, but no data is moving through the pipe. This, rather than speed is the real issue. Andreas, You description sounds as though your ISP needs to invest in a larger backbone. An ISDN would not help further if the ISP's backbone is inadequate. There are some servers that are overloaded at times and data is either slow or halts. However, once my ISP upgraded from two T1s to a T3, my cable access has increased throughput. The effectiveness of 56K to the ISP is a different matter. Glenn
