if the same money they had contributed had been set aside and put into Treasuries Well that's fine as long as it is mandatory. You just can't risk putting it into something like the stock market which as we have recently seen can be a risky investment. And if we make it voluntary, people will just ignore it and get to their old age with no money - and then be a drain on society. But why mess with something that is clearly working?
