I'll give it a shot, but is this specific to the 3G? No, but as it was explained to me by the folks at the Apple store there are sometimes incompatibilities between apps that can sludge things up. Essentially this restores your iPhone software to out of the box condition... then the reload of the apps should be clean. But what do I know... it seemed to work. To be honest, it isn't. Streets are worse, houses are older, and restaurants are not as nice as Orange County. Well you and I don't see eye to eye on much so I'm not surprised we don't on this. I lived in various towns in Marin County several generations ago. Late 60's early 70's. The houses there were newer then <g>.
