No, Tim. Warmer isn't better. Most of our crops can't tolerate much more heat than they get right now. Ever wonder why Texas isn't a big wheat state?

Well, Tim, the reason is that the feedback is overwhelmingly positive. For one, there is a lot of methane locked up in permafrost, bogs and marshes. Warmer will almost certainly result in dryer in places where the latter two exist. And it will result in warmer where the former exists. That would result in much of the methane escaping into the atmosphere. And methane is a very potent greenhouse gas. In addition, the drying of bogs, swamps and marshes exposes their trapped carbon to oxygen. Which causes it to oxidize.

And then there are the methane chlathrates in the oceans....

"and that the warming will cause disasters like those shown in Al Gore's movie"

Why the focus on Gore? He is far from the only person involved with GW. And the whole issue far preceded Gore's move into politics.
