Ascend and Earthlink Team Up to Provide Turnkey Internet Solutions to Corporate
Customers; New Partnership Agreement Streamlines Equipment and Service Ordering

ALAMEDA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 10, 1997--Ascend
Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASND) today announced a new partnership
agreement with EarthLink Network, Inc. (NASDAQ:ELNK), the world's
largest consumer ISP, which will enable Ascend VARs to offer
customers turnkey Internet connectivity, including equipment, line
provisioning and monthly service. The agreement gives corporate
customers simplified, one-stop shopping.
EarthLink is not only a marketing partner for Ascend, they are
also one of Ascend's largest customers, with over 10,000 dial ports
in their network. EarthLink selected the Ascend equipment in part
for its high reliability, which ensures that customers experience
high availability and high performance when they're on the network.
EarthLink recently won PC Magazine's Editors' Choice award for Best
Internet Service Provider, amongst a field of 13 ISPs and online
services.
