Krauthammer explained all this on O'Reilly. Apparently, Castle would have definitely won over the Coons, thus becoming a safe seat for the Republicans. This is Rove's argument too.

However, Gingrich, Ingraham, and Hannity all think O'Donnell can win.

I still think many do not "get" the tea party movement.
