Detroit, after being sacked like Rome, is transforming itself. That is the American way, constant and anarchic re-invention leading to who-knows-what. The kids and entrepreneurs in that wonderful set of videos are true Americans, not the bureaucrats, PC-addled academics, corporate whores, banksters, etc. There could be another Microsoft brewing there for all we know. I would not be surprised if in 10-15 years Detroit is seen as a city of the future, like Berlin post-Wall. It has the land, latent infrastructure, etc. Optimism and energy in the face of disaster. The True American Way, not to be confused with what prevails.
