our skill set and technology are higher than developing countries. therefore the value of our labor is higher and we will be paid more for it. if it turns out that a foreign country can make something cheaper and higher quality than we can make it, then we need to make something else.

free trade makes everyone more productive. yes, there will be a few things that we might not be able to compete against. but innovation and technology would march on. there will be other things we can make that lower wage countries won't be able to make yet. and that is naturally where we will gravitate. we would adapt and find more ways to be efficient.

free trade wouldn't be destructive to our economy if government and unions got out of the way..
