<<The reality is corporate America runs the country, has for quite a while, and will continue to do so. The latest example of this is the manipulated stock market we've all been taking notice of on this thread.>>

It's clearly true, but no one should be surprised. It is a simple equation. The rich have always ran things becasue they can buy power with money. People with money can buy influence to make thiings go their way.

When has that equation not been true? So therein lies the villian democracy must deal with.

Rome was totaly decadent and run by the very rich until it decayed. During the Dark Ages Feudal lords made life hell for peasants.

When anyone runs for the state legislature the oil companies and rich and powerful are the ones who give people the big dough. So they are beholden.

Last year 20 lesislators recevied $10,000 each from the oil companies for their campaigns. 19 pubs and one dem.

So it is an equation. The only thing the poor and even middle class has going for them are the fact they are in the right and people of conscience who will fight for ethics.

It is a battle. But we did get democracy. I don't know how though, knowing human nature-lol.?
