The iPad touch screen can act like a keyboard.

In their commercials Apple makes having not a key board look like an advantage - the little magic wheel - the new "interface".
1.) Apple does not use a keyboard because it would resemble too much an ordinary (PC) netbook. "wheel" = differentiator
2.) If I understand correctly the wheel originates from the MP3 Nano; so they extend this technology to the I Pad and save cost
3.)You can "upgrade" the IPad with an (after market) wireless keyboard - but than you end up with two pieces of hardware.
I don't buy anybody claiming a wireless keyboard is a better solution compared to an "integrated keyboard" - but than again if the keyboard is integrated it might resemble to much an ordinary netbook and it would cost more.
Only Apple can charge for a keyboard...
This looks like a portable desktop :o>
