You said "-- they stop by and ask a pharmacistif he carries Helidac."
This week-end, I did so. He said "I bought one jar with 100 pills in
it, I have sold 30, still got 70. There are some generic combinations
I sell instead, Helidac is too expensive to keep on the shelves."
IMO I do not think it is important how much Helidac is being sold.
For QDEL I think it is more important that the P&G salesperson is
PROMOTING the kit. The practioner is obviously going to make his or her own choice regarding method of testing and prescriptions written.
And with the choice of drug, many times the pharmacist will rightly
or wrongly change the script to a generic.
IMO I think the success of the h-pylori kit is going to be premised
on the kind of win QDEL had in the last quarter, $1mil contract for
strep tests. Judging by my perceived attitudes of independant GPs, a QDEL salesman would be wasting his time talking to an independant practioner. Five of my friends have recently been tested for h-pylori,
three of them mentioned to their doctor the availability of a quick
test, neither doctor showed much interest. You can lead the DONKEYTER
to the test, but you can't make him use it.
