"RE: "Many phones include a camera - do phones cannibalize digital cameras?"
The answer is YES for consumer cameras, NO or NOT MUCH for DSLRs.
"

I agree

My brother (a salesman, not an engineer...) used to haul a video camera around on his trips to shoot movies and a good quality SLR. He is good at it. Not many watched his movies since they started out on tape and we enjoyed the pictures he'd put in an album.

Now he has an iPhone and we all watch his movies he uploads to the net. Pretty good quality for what he wants to record. He also upload high quality digital SLR photos.

Now he only has to carry a DSLR camera bag for a digital camera rather than two bags for video and slr.
