Anaxagoras: You are absolutely correct. If anything, it is a coincident indicator, a measure of value at a given time. This indicator cannot predict any thing in itself. The market's direction will depend on earnings revisions and change in interest rates. I would like to use it with a lag because it may remain overvalued or undervalued for several (hours in case of crashes) days to several weeks. But then, simple formulas like these cannot work in practice! Premier
