Agreed, Jane.
>>Don't get on your knees real quickly each night, or quick prayer before sleep, parrotting "Oh Lord forgive me of my sins today."<<
If you can't name specifically what you've done counter to God how can you "agree with God" that is was wrong and turn from it with His help?
On the flip side of not being able to get "down to brass tacks and be honest."
Such a prayer doesn't inspire any confidence in the believer -- for sin becomes something that constantly shrouds us, we never enjoy freedom, if we cannot identify it specifically and seeks God's forgiveness and help to overcome.
I appreciate your posts and your willingness to "think out loud" here. I've been benefitted and I enjoy reading your posts.
I concur with your assessment of anti-depressants for the most part, though I'm sure that there are rare exceptions -- but if happiness comes from a bottle, not understanding and a relationship with God ...
It's not new, of course, what's new is the "legitimacy" given to this and other dreadful practices, euthanasia, abortion, etc.
Gotta go for now, Barry |
