ERICSSON LAUNCHES 56 kbps MODEM WITH VOICE MAIL

- MULTIFUNCTIONS OPENS UP MARKET FOR HOME AND SMALL
OFFICES

Ericsson's new modem Ericsson K 56DTVoice for speeds up to 56 kbps
offers a range of new functions which makes Ericsson believe it will be a success on the market for small offices and home offices (SOHO) and to teleworkers. This fast modem is now available in Sweden and will be launched shortly throughout Europe.

The modem also functions as an answering machine and then uses the
PC hard disc to store incoming calls. The answering machine can be
remotely monitored. The voice mail function follows the IS-101 AT+V
standard and offers an array of advanced voice mail functions. For
instance, incoming messages can be stored at different locations or
be diverted to other phone numbers. Equipped with earphones and a
microphone, the modem works like a telephone over the voice network
and can be used for ordinary calls as well as three-way or
conference calls.

The modem can also be used as an Internet phone together with the
software which comes as part of the package. The fax software Trio
Datafax is also delivered with the modem. The Ericsson K 56DTV is
upgradable and supports the new standard K 56 flex for data
transmission speeds up to 56 kbps over standard telephone lines. A
built-in flash memory makes it possible to upgrade the modem
directly from the computer.

"Ericsson continues to profile itself as a supplier of pioneering
equipment even for small enterprises and advanced home users. It
will be exciting to launch this new modem as it meets so many needs
at the same time as it is one of the fastest on the market," said
Peter Walan, responsible for modem sales in Sweden at Ericsson
Business Networks AB.

The price from the store for Ericsson K 56 DTV is estimated at
approximately SEK 1,400 excl VAT, which is a very competitive price.

Ericsson's 100,000 employees are active in more than 130 countries.
Their combined expertise in fixed and mobile networks, mobile phones
and infocom systems makes Ericsson a world-leading supplier in
telecommunications.
