West Virginia went for McCain and Republican in the 2008 Presidential election and the miners really feel betrayed by Obama. The UMWA openly supported Obama and he has proven that he is anti-mining, anti-coal. And they aren't so stupid that they don't understand that being pro-union doesn't mean a whole lot if the mines are closed. No doubt in my mind that WV votes heavily republican
