"Let's see - HP, Tektronix, NCD - these were all real successful with X Windows Terminals - More expensive than PCs but without all that extraneous horsepower that seem to burden PCs these days. Haven't seen any of these companies pushing these machines for several years now." -- Paul Engel

Paul, please consider the following.

the charm of X-windows terminals are now duplicable on any PC platforms. thanks to Hummingbird Communications (HUMCF). PC-X server business is a very fast growing segment as the demand for unix-nt and cross platform data retrieval becomes a focus of corporate intranets.

a PC based workstation equipped with PC-X and NFS access is far more cost-effective than a full blown x-terminal station. right now the only place i see massive x-window terminals are university campuses. most corporations seem to be shifting toward the PC-X environment, as they demand more flexibility.

your thoughts?
