Steve,
I saw that broadcast this morning on CNBC, too. We've been looking at Excel for a variety of reasons, lately. They have an interesting architecture, particularly the means by which they extend between premises-based cabinets using IP at very high speeds. But that's only for on-prem, inter-module connectivity purposes thus far.
I wonder how they will adapt and integrate their SS7-driven boxes to the IP model over the WAN and the Internet. I've asked them for some direction on this point in the past, but I've not gotten anything back in definitive terms yet. No surprises there tho, since this would likely be proprietary to them until they were prepared to make a release statement. And I should duely add, that I do not know if any work by them is actually taking place at this time. But it sure seems to me like there should be.
Since I've grown to respect your views on other threads concerning related topics, let me ask you a few questions: (others invited to reply as well)
- How do you feel about the need for Excel and SUMMA, and the like, to come up to speed with VoIP capabilities, integrated in their own switches?
- If they don't, will it adversely affect their stock price?
- What is the window they have to play in to get this done?
- Who among this class are you aware of that is already doing this, if anyone?
Thanks in advance, and regards, Frank |
