If the only budgetary change was the tax cut we'd be fine in terms of the deficit, in fact we would have a surplus.

When i argue that clinton left the budget in surplus conservatives are quick to tell me that it's only possible with borrowed money from SS tactical surplus. So your statement is not true, as far as I know. In any case the point is moot...managing two wars, and letting costs escalate out of control while cutting taxes at the same time is irresponsible.

Because that's what having higher tax rates is.

The argument is political since the bill had an expiration date...meaning the tax cut was temporary...everyone knew that the cuts were unsustainable...

If you don't accept it as solid, then there is much less backing for stimulus payments, and we can help reduce the deficit by avoiding such stimulus to the extent we still can now, and almost completely in the future.

Nah...it's keynesianism...came long before these CBO projections...
