The water is cool, but once you walk down the hill in La Jolla taking in the view of the Pacific, you'll see what I mean. Just beautiful... Regards, John PS - I know you are in Florida, been there too and some of the west coast beaches around Clearwater are really nice. It's just that the year round climate (and those damn bugs) don't compare with San Diego IMO...
