"People may not accept reality because of their perspective, or they may react to it differently because of their perspective, but the reality remains.

In America we have politicians who are confused about the difference between terrorists and common folk and we have citizens who are hardening their views against anything or anyone who is a Muslim. That is a significant change at home.

So we wonder if the fight is to expand unto judgment day or does it have clear parameters. Then, to add to this confusion, we have a President who declares for us that it will be over in a few months. For the people of Afghanistan things are much more up close and personal.

"but the reality remains."

We get reports about the atrocities committed by radical Taleban operatives against innocent civilians which are shocking but they may be localized to places like Kabul and not wide spread or common.

Reality in the age of reason is not defined by what some political authority declares for you, it is defined by what you experience and can make sense of using the rational sense you were born with. There is now a growing list of massacres, attacks on innocent civilians, and war crimes committed by invading US and Coalition forces. This may be the limit of reality experienced by an increasing section of the Afghanistan population.

"Standing up for themselves, would best be done by challenging the Taliban, which is the main threat to stand up against."

A point of view possibly not shared by many of those most effected by the circumstance.
