Many need new influx of people with talent, energy, youth or money to get things rolling... I've been to 42 states but have not yet been to Des Moines, Omaha, Albany, Buffalo or Detroit.

Des Moines and Omaha are doing well. Albany just okay. Buffalo or Detroit....not so good.

I have to wonder how many towns in bastions of 'socialism' in say Australia, Canada or even France these days are as depressed as so many parts of the USA?

Something tells me we are one of the few countries that throws away whole cities.

That's why I found what was happening in Detroit inspirational. After all, its not likely that people on the East or West coasts will save Detroit.....rather it will be people who live there already who recognize its value and work to enhance it.
