Off topic: George your opinion is your own and no one could argue it. I must say however that as you put it you are talking in generals. I could recount hundreds of stories where brokers have saved, protected, and furthered peoples financial situations and some of those situations were pro bono. I would only add to your statement that whatever service you are using to aid you in your goals, whether it be financial, legal, or tax advice, Interview the prospective provider. If you interview before using you should weed out the ones that do not know what they are doing. Finally As a financial counselor I have never told someone to go to HR Block or even recomended they do their own. I have always advocated seeking reliable professional help. CFPs fall into that catagory but their are other designations that you should familiarize yourself with. Sorry George I guess I'm being testy, but I am proud of what I do. I have many clients and not one would trade me in for an 800 number and an unfamiliar voice. As a final note. I agree with the premis (sp?) of using a discount broker to buy and sell stocks that you have done the DD on. Why pay a commission to someone who did nothing for you. Ive gone on and on tooo much sorry Seth
