My guess is total health care costs for the US would drop a ton if they went out of business or were required to charge enough for their food-like products to cover the costs to society for eating them. Somehow I feel the millionaire franchise owners get away with hiring people who may have citizenship papers from the same company that provided them to Meg Whitman so they can pay a low salary and charge less than other places for "foodlike products" ... are having people like me pay for the damage their products do to society and the health care of their "part time" employees who probably don't have health care...

<rant mode off>

BTW, unintended consequences of OBC will be automation of most low skill jobs, perhaps with drive up windows operated by people in Viet Nam over the internet... non public jobs like fry cook will be automated to save health care... and most low skill jobs will vanish. I've read this is already happening in Spain where they made it very expensive to hire or fire people. It is great news for one of my top stock holdings that is up over 100% YTD.
