Probably because of the stereotypes, right or wrong, that exist in pop culture.

Right or wrong, Jews have a notorious reputation (not my opinion) for being shrewed business people, to point of being self-centered, but they have also suffered extensive condemnation and ridicule for the same.

As I have said before, I have an overall positive impression of Jews. They are very intelligent as a group. Ashkenazi Jews have some of the highest IQs on Earth.
