My brain seems to have problems focusing on too many stocks at once. so I try to focus on a few large positions. as a result most of my positions are way more than 1% and I try to keep up with them as best as i can. of course that how I managed to lose over 60% in 2008 and gain close to 90% in 2009. However I do try to pay a lot more attention to leveraged positions and to management competence and integrity than I used to after the 2008 debacle especially with apex-silver that went belly up. I also do limit exposure when the company is dependent on a single product or mine, which is why I have reduced my DGC.to exposure as the price has been rising.
