They'd be in a tough fight. Their stock would get hammered! They'd have to pay a $750 million breakup fee to Wcom. They'd have to offer atleast $51 cash to BT. BT has already agreed to vote their shares for Wcom deal.

This would be disastrous for GTE stock price, and the shareholders will be out to lynch Lee if he would try. It won't happen. Lee would rather be a CEO of GTE than be rediculed and hated by GTE shareholders.

I think you're barking up the wrong tree with any idea of GTE still getting MCI.
