Besides being expensive, those Xray florescent units require a radiation safety certificate.

The lab tests can get down to parts per million - maybe you find you have tungsten, maybe wolframite, with the gold, and can go looking for the vein with a UV light...

Maurice, you should get a dredge and go looking for gold - there's lots in New Zealand.
