Vale tries to take out Australians advantage. Its ore is better (has more iron per ton of the ore) but each ton of Vale iron ore pays 30 days more of shipping.

Vale ordered 35 units of 400.000 ton ships. 360m long ship.

As a comparison: The US aircraft carrier Enterprise is 342m long.

It is about the size of a Royal Caribbean cruising ship.

Nineteen bought directly others contracted through shipping companies to ship iron ore for the next 25 years.

Vale thinks it can get cheaper iron ore to China with the big ships.

Has projects ready for even bigger ones:

500.000 and 600.000 tons ships.
