I just broke down and had to see for myself. I compiled the following code to execute the "invalid instruction":

unsigned char x[5] = {0xf0, 0x0f, 0xc7, 0xc8, 0}
main()
void (*f)() = (void (*)())x;
}

I ran this under both Windows95 and Windows NT 4.0 on Pentium systems without any problems.

What bug?

This same code example is posted all over the news groups. I tested this on several machines with none of the reported problems. (ie; halt, crash, etc.)
