Seems odd that this technology would require more power. This technology isn't going to change the market overnight, but sets the stage for the next transition. One has to ask if SEG/QNTM/WDC are going to be comfortable letting IBM single source their heads.

I think the integrated Japanese competitors are a bigger threat, including advances in new technology, and have an advantage now that exchange rates favor foriegn mfgs. Who wins with increased sales by Fujitsu?

I'm curious about the impact of this on the Suspension Assemblies/Head Stacks. I imagine IBM mfgs their own, but they've provided technology in the past to HTCH. Are the new heads compatible with TSA/HIF?
