There are places in which protests are if not prohibited by act, they are punished all the same. Freedom of speech does not apply in the courtroom, to members of the Armed Forces, to Federal Officers, Agents etc.

There are certain circumstances, surroundings and occasions that simply should not be interrupted by outbursts and other such displays.

I don't see it as a slippery slope if they were to declared funerals among those areas and activities protected from disruption, distraction and or painful abuse.

They certainly would be arrested if they entered a school building and started creaming at a Downs Syndrome child that the cause of his/her affliction were the sins of the parents.

It would just add one small activity in which protests, disruptive activities and abuse were not tolerated due to the compromise of individual rights.
