>>> What kind of pain occurs when they confiscate it again? <<<

A slight twinge as they take the small amount you have available for the crooks to confiscate so they will stop looking for all the stuff that is hidden in multiple remote locations that you drove to with your cell phone wrapped in aluminum foil ;-)
That small amount might also have some cheap gold and silver plated objects, maybe bought from a TV shopping channel, that look impressive and gaudy. They will feel they have done well a few coins, some gold goblets, a sliver (plate) serving tray, and a golden statue of Elvis Presley... they might even take the collectible NASCAR plates I bought from the Bradford Exchange.

I'm sure there is some NRA type who will say "minor powder burns from my revolver."
That's not necessary or appropriate.

It is unlikely you will be dealing with the FBI or IRS level people, or even your average suburban police officer. You will be dealing with some bookkeeper (not a CPA) and some TSA level people. Be polite, but act real upset, and don't laugh your ass off when they leave, and don't go to your stash in the next week, and check your cars for GPS devices...
