10/8/10 Update The market managed to shrug off Friday’s mediocre employment numbers with the Dow cracking11,000. Not too surprising, I suppose, as the boys on Wall Street still have their jobs. At Friday’s close, the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 5.85% YTD (vs. up 4.48% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 7.96% YTD (vs. up 6.22% YTD a week ago). And the Contest median is now up an even more impressive 9.37% YTD (vs. up 7.59% YTD a week ago). Racking up a big weekly gain, ROCKY’s portfolio (up 43.62% YTD) maintained a substantial Contest lead. WILDER’s portfolio (up 33.65% YTD) slipped into second place, while FILO's portfolio (up 32.65% YTD) fell back to third place. At Friday's close, as was the case last week, 25 of the 32 Contest portfolios were in the black with 17 of the 32 beating the NBI.
