After confiscation, if it occurs, gold may still be legal in a number of foreign countries, especially those that produce gold.

Those countries may be a good place to hide some.

Later, with later being months to years, gold ownership becomes legal or almost legal in the US.

The gold will be safely buried somewhere, not near you.
