Hi Dan - Some excellent comments.

I agree on the insurance. I mainly use it to cover medical and potential lawsuits (accidents in car and house) that could strip me of wealth. I minimize cost by high deductibles. I will pay for the nicks and small stuff.

Real estate is also good but you need to buy well. There are many bargains out there now for those with cash or great credit. It is also a hedge for inflation against the probable dollar risks that the govt is bringing on us by its fiscal mismanagement.

Gold/silver/oil partnerships (the right ones) are also good hedges.

The vineyard sounds great. What fun!. My wife laughs but I would like to make some furniture. Regardless you need to have something to get up to in the morn. We are created to be social and do something of value - Hopefully the health holds up.
