With just 3 weeks to go until the end of tax-loss selling season for many mutual funds, its time to ask the question -- do you think this will impact things very much this year? The overall markets are up about 10%, as measured by the rise in the S&P 500, whereas energy stocks are about breakeven, as measured by the DJ Oil & Gas Index, see

Layered on top of all this, we have the uncertainty regarding whether or not LTCG tax rates will increase to 20% vs. the current 15% next year.

My thought at this point is that large-cap stocks that are down ought to be sold off a bit in the coming weeks but not as much as last year.
