No pool here but I DO have a drill point, 50 feet of drilling pipe, and an in-well pump socked away. There is ground water at 22 feet deep so in a pinch I can manually punch a well. We are also on a hill so the water won't be contaminated by all the industrial crap companies and greedy truck drivers dump to save a buck.

One of the articles linked to talked about how worthless gold would be if society collapses. I agree. You can't eat gold, it won't generate electricity, and it won't produce water. It will be worthless in a barter community. The only thing I can see that will be valuable is knowledge of how to do things, and the smartness not to (once again) put morons in charge of your society just because you don't want to lead.

If we form a local society my first priority would be to deal with the problem makers. Anyone who attended Harvard or has an MBA would be shot. The rest would be exiled. :o)
