El-Erian bailed out of Harvard just as its endowment lost many billions of dollars. Harvard had been paying him previously unheard-of compensation, far beyond Nobel Prize winners and other great scientists and scholars. As far as I can tell, his presence at PIMCO should not affect the management or value of PCRDX, which is committed to track the Dow Jones UBS Commodity Total Return Index.
