As long as I have listened to Bob he always refers to both the S&P500 and the DJIA as valid indicators to use for targetting. Since everyone in the world watches the DJIA it tends to track the broader market within a few percent. That's all the precision you could ever expect in timing.

My comments about the DJIA overrunning the 10.8% number are as Bob expressed them to one caller.

But there is no arguing that the S&P500 is, statistically speaking, a better barometer.
