If you're a long term investor, it is okay to ride a stock even after you've made a nice profit, but set a tight stop to protect you're gain after a reasonable profit has been made.

My experience: bought at 11, went to 24 (held it), went to 9 (held it), went to 18 (held it), went to 7 (sold it). This was all in about a year and a half.
