Bill: Dismissal of the lawsuit <<helps to clear the way for a whole category of potential new developments>>
I spoke today with an analyst who told me that this "...was the best announcement to come from Valence in the last 3 years" and mentioned the following:
1-At the recent Power '97 battery conference four large Japanese LiIon manufacturers: Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba and Sanyo, in separate interviews, confirmed their intent to build plants for Lithium Polymer.
2-During last week's AEA conference, Valence stated that it would cost an estimated $700 mln for these companies to "start from scratch" to design, build, equip and commission a plants in Japan to produce approximately $100 mln/yr revenue from Li Polymer.
3-By licensing their technology, providing technical expertise and coordination with equipment suppliers etc, Valence could reduce that cost to somewhere around $200 mln with a substantial improvement in schedules.
4-For specialty applications such as Alliant and Hanil Telecom, more joint ventures are expected.
This information supports Valence's statement "WE WILL BE THE DOMINANT SUPPLIER OF BATTERIES FOR THE LAPTOP AND CELLPHONE INDUSTRIES IN 1998" recorded by an analyst last week who had also attended the AEA convention.
It appears that the years of R&D, collective expertise and experience developing the first fully-automatic production capability for this technology are going to pay off, and not in small way!
Again, my best regards to all who own the stock. |
